Metal Warriors is a game developed by LucasArts and was released in 1995.
Gameplay: Shooter, 2D, Singleplayer, Multiplayer
In Metal Warriors you are the pilot of a huge mech. The goal of each mission is usually reaching a specific spot on a planet or spaceship, but there is different reasons to do so. One time you have to rescue someone one time you have to take over a space station. Even though that is nearly the same from a gameplay point of view, these differences prevent the game from getting dull.
In order to fight your way towards your target you can use the weaponry of your mech and other mechs you find along the way. In total there are six Mech-Types that are all able to perform the basic actions to attack with a melee attack and a ranged attack, defend from projectiles with a shield, Fly or hover for mobility and use special weapons you find on your way. These mechs are quite different in their attributes and weaponry though. Grab a new mech when you see one but beware when hijacking them from your enemies because you are very vulnerable while outside of your mech.

You might not have played Lands of Lore: Guardians of Destiny (PC)
Gameplay: RPG, Story, Singleplayer, First Person
You are Luther. You have been accused of being a servant of the dark armies and imprisoned. You manage to escape because you are cursed to randomly transform into a tiny lizard or a huge demon. This curse is also the reason for the accusations. After your prisonbreak you will have to find a way to break the curse.
The Game features a variety of different magic abilitys, weapons and mechanics due to the curse that lets you either be a tiny lizard, which enables you to go through small passages, or a huge demon, that can destroy anything in its path. The controls in this game are a bit iffy, as you will have to click on a button with your mouse to attack or cast a spell. But the game does not suffer too much from that considering the gameplay is not all about combat. A mayor part of the game is interaction with your environment to solve puzzles and that works like a charm with the mouse controls.
The game is fully voiced and has a quite charming retro soundtrack.
You can get the game including the first part of the Lands of Lore series in a bundle for 6$ on gog.

You might not have played Geist (GC)
Geist is a unique first person shooter released in 2005 for the Nintendo Gamecube.
Gameplay: First Person Shooter, Singleplayer
Ever wondered what it would be like to be a Poltergeist and possess objects and people? Well you can get a glimpse of that in this game. You play the role of a scientist who's geist gets extracted in a top secret science facility he is infiltrating. They try to brainwash your ghost into a soldier for their cause. During the brainwashing you get rescued by the ghost of a little girl and from then on try to use your new found powers to stop the organization behind all that.
The game features some minor puzzle elements but for the most part succeeds to be a very good first person shooter with a great atmosphere.
An assymetric Multiplayer Deathmatch mode (Ghosts vs Soldiers) is available and quite fun, but because of splitscreengaming you need a pretty large television to have fun.
You will most likely be able to grab the game for cheap on Amazon.

You might not have played To the Moon (PC)
To the Moon is an indie adventure RPG game released in by Free Bird Games in 2011.
Gameplay: RPG, Story, Singleplayer
The game focuses alot on the story and gameplay is only mildly relevant to enjoying this game. If you like experiencing a good story you will like this game.
To explain the premise of the game im going to cite the official site:
"There exists a technology that allows doctors to weave artificial memories, such that a patient can request attempts to alter their mind, and wake up with memories of things that didn’t actually happen.
However, since these new memories are permanent, the conflict between them and the existing authentic memories clash in such a way that it ceases the person’s ability to properly function. Thus, the operation is only done to people on their deathbeds, to fulfill what they wish they had done with their lives… but didn’t."
You journey together with the two doctors using this technology to aid a man in the last hours of his life.
You can get the game on the official website, which also provides links to steam, gog or origin.

You might not have played Grandia (PSX)
This JRPG-gem is a classic for most people who know it.
Gameplay: JRPG, Singleplayer
The protagonist of this game is Justin, a boy who longs to become an adventurer like his father. The game manages easily to get you interested in him as a character with his feats and flaws and soon you will want to go on an adventure just as much as the main character.
Storywise the game definately delivers. The combatsystem is exceptionaly unique and interesting. It is turn based but allows you to interupt foes and prepare for heavy attacks because every action needs some time to be performed and some interupting or saving actions take less time to be performed than the stuff you usually want to prepare for.
If you are looking for a JRPG to play. Play this one!
The game is available on the Playstation Network for PS3, PSP and PSVita for around 6$.

You might not have played The Bard's Tale (PC)
The Bard's Tale (2005) is the newest and last installment of the Bard's Tale series.
Gameplay: Hack n' Slay, Humor, Story
The game plays like your standard hack n slay game with the exception that you can summon allies using bard magic to assist you. The good part about this game is that it features an engaging story about a good for nothing bard that just wants to live his life to the fullest.
The combat mechanics are interesting and allow for an active feel instead of just spamming an attack key. You will have to dodge projectiles and block attacks to survive.
The humor of the game is probably its strongest point. On several occasions the game will allow you to decide between a good/bad/neutral path and each decision makes sense and has hilarious outcomes.
If you are looking for a good hack n slay that will entertain you for hours, look no further than Bard's Tale.
Buy the game on gog. There is also an IOS version available.

You might not have played Monster Max (GB)
Gameplay: Puzzle, Singleplayer
In this game your goal is to help Monster Max find his way to the exit of each level. To get to the exit Monster Max has to utilize different abilities he finds in the game that enable mostly basic movement options. The catch is: You can only have two abilities at once. Because of that you find yourself moving back and forth in the level to find the one path through different rooms that allows you to take a certain ability with you to a room where you need it.
You will always be able to move, but you have to have a certain ability item with you to: duck, jump or carry blocks. The visuals of the game are pretty good and allow you to easily understand the game. Spikes - better jump over them. Floor is starting to blink every so often - better jump on a box when that happens.
The puzzles are quite easy at the beginning and have more then one solution, but later in the game you will have to find the one perfect path. I started to draw maps on paper that show me the connection between the rooms to plan out my strategy and still havent beaten the game fully.
The Soundtrack is also pretty smooth.
Play this game on an online emulator.
